Published this a few hours ago. Then Bloomberg and Reuters reported Anthropic is in talks to buy Decart for about $6 billion — what would be the largest acquisition in Anthropic's history.

Decart was founded in 2023 by Dean Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, who met in Unit 8200. About a hundred people. Its core advantage is generating video at significantly lower cost than competing models, and Reuters reports the team could land in Anthropic's inference and performance organization.

Three things in the piece above just got stress-tested in public. The founder heuristic. The efficiency axis that runs from Banias in 2003 through LTX-2 in January. And the argument that Israel lost the model layer and took the layers underneath it instead.

There's also a loop I didn't expect to close this fast. I wrote that Claude already runs on more than a million Trainium2 chips, which are Annapurna — Yokneam, bought by Amazon in 2015 for $350 million, Graviton developed in Haifa. If Decart closes, that's the second piece of Israeli infrastructure underneath Claude in eleven years.

Caveat where it belongs: these are early talks and Bloomberg says they could fall apart. Nvidia was in advanced negotiations before Anthropic entered, and Amazon and Nebius were circling. Even if it dies, five of the largest compute buyers on earth bidding on a hundred people in Tel Aviv is the argument.
